If you’re in Norcross, Woodstock, Duluth, Peachtree Corners, Dunwoody, Chamblee, Doraville, Berkley Lake, Johns Creek, Roswell, Atlanta, or Alpharetta and are looking for a full service, fully equipped fitness center then Tapout Fitness may be just what you’re looking for!
Today’s blog post is the latest in our side by side comparison series. Chances are, if you are looking for a gym, LA Fitness is one that you have heard of, or considered joining. The reason is simply that there are quite a few of them around the Atlanta area, and nationwide, so they are a common name in the fitness world. La Fitness is a corporate chain, privately held. Their business model is to develop large (usually 20,000 square foot to 40,000 square foot) facilities in either shopping plazas or standalone buildings. The amenities and quality of an LA Fitness gym can vary pretty widely, and the prices fluctuate according to what corporate dictates from the home office for each region or individual gym.
-Usually well equipped with free weights, machines, and cardio equipment
-They usually have a large but basic locker room
-Some locations have sporting facilities (usually a basketball court)
-LA Fitness does offer personal training
-LA Fitness does not sell supplements or offer meal planning or prep services (some have 3rd party smoothie shops that lease space inside the LA Fitness)
-LA Fitness usually does not have tanning beds, steam rooms, or hot tubs (though some have pools)
-LA Fitness usually offers group fitness, with classes that are pretty “standard”. IE Yoga, Zumba®, Pilates, Aerobics, etc.
-LA Fitness is not 24 hours, and some have very limited weekend/holiday hours
-LA Fitness’s are frequently extremely crowded, and in general do not receive very high reviews. They do however have many members (why they are so crowded) due to the fact that there are lots of them, and it is a name people automatically think about when it’s time to join a gym
-LA Fitness typically charges between $29.99 and $49.99 per month, depending on the location and promos going on at the time you sign up. They also have a signup fee that ranges from $99.00 to $0, once again depending on the time you sign up or the club you sign up at.
HOW DOES TAPOUT FITNESS STACK UP AGAINST LA FITNESS?
-Mid-sized locations (our gyms are 6,000 to 8,000 square feet)
-Multiple locations coming soon and growing fast! We do not have the amount of locations LA Fitness has, but are rapidly expanding
-Well equipped with cardio, free weights, and machines of all kinds. We have everything LA Fitness has, just as many of them (since a Tapout only has 1,000-1,500 members’ vs the 10,000 to 15,000 members an LA Fitness has we don’t need as many)
-Tapout has private showers and changing areas not mass locker rooms
-Tapout has boxing rings or MMA cages, not basketball courts
-Tapout has NASM certified personal trainers who do not use the aggressive “headhunter” approach seen at many LA Fitness locations
-Tapout has a full supplement retail store as well as meal prep pick up
-Some Tapout locations have Tanning beds and other amenities
-Tapout has an incredible, exciting, and unique group fitness schedule that includes our one of a kind classes as well as the old favorites like yoga
-Tapout is 24/7/365 access for our members
-Tapout is never overcrowded (either our facility or our classes). Tapout also has incredible reviews. Get on Google or Facebook to see what people say about, and compare those reviews to the nearest LA Fitness location and you will see what we mean right away
-Tapout has memberships starting at $24.99 a month, and flexible enrollment programs that can tailor fit membership packages to your budget and needs, so you will get maximum value for your money
Bottom line is that Tapout is a boutique style 24 hour facility with top notch instruction and customer service for prices that are often CHEAPER than big box low touch competitors like LA Fitness.
