Tapout and mixed martial arts (MMA) are almost synonymous. As one of the original and most prolific sponsors of the UFC, and as a line of clothing that has its roots as a “fighters” brand Tapout will likely always have some association with MMA. While we at Tapout Fitness support and applaud the move from a fighters brand affiliated strictly with mixed martial arts, to a more inclusive edgy fitness/combat sports based fitness brand, we also acknowledge a large part of the appeal of Tapout is and will forever be wrapped up in its history in MMA. We frequently have people come into the gym asking about mixed martial arts training programs, and I wanted to discuss some of the component parts of the Tapout Fitness Norcross and Woodstock MMA programs.
Mixed Martial Arts is a combined martial art style that uses elements of boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and wrestling, as well as other martial arts disciplines, and blends them together to create a unique and variegated style of fighting that has exploded in popularity in the last 20 years. Once known as “cage fighting”, MMA is now big business, with billions of dollars annually being generated by ticket sales, pay per view, and merchandising by the big players in the industry. As mixed martial arts has become more popular, it has begun to permeate into the fitness realm, as opposed to being isolated to “hard core” fight gyms. Some of the mixed martial arts component pieces we offer at Tapout Fitness include:

We also are constantly developing new programs that pay homage to our roots in MMA, but are consistent with our current mission of providing combat sports based fitness programs that teach technical proficiency while focusing on physique and body development as a primary element. No doubt that mixed martial arts is a great workout, and that we at Tapout Fitness Norcross and Woodstock will continue to do what we do best, which is develop creative and unique fitness programs based on martial arts and boxing!
